Cardinal Couple is a larger than life watercolor pencil drawing of a male and female cardinal sitting on a tree branch.  This piece is the 25th in the Totem Animal Project and the 1st of the Avian Series.  Cardinals are symbols of: balance of power, confidence, enthusiasm, know yourself, power of song, spiritual connection, sacred self, and wealth.

The original was created in 2019. It is 16″ x 20″ on 18″ x 24″ paper and in a 22″ x 26″ frame. It took approximately 10 hours to complete. I used General’s Kimberly and Faber-Castell watercolor pencils, on Canson mix media paper. Then I painted over it with water. It has a spray varnish finish.
